Yokohama Quick Bio and Tires for Sale
Based in Tokyo, Japan, the Yokohama Rubber Company (Yokohama Tires) began in 1917 as a joint venture with the BFGoodrich Company. Following great success in the Japanese and Asian markets, Yokohama sought additional growth. Knowing that would best be achieved in the world’s largest consumer tire market, Yokohama Tire officially opened its doors to the United States in 1969. With its new offices in Los Angeles, California, Yokohama has focused its efforts on international growth and has positioned itself as the world’s 8th largest tire manufacturer and 6th largest in the United States.
Yokohama knew it had to work hard to gain the market share, sales and growth it was after. To do so they remained aggressive from day one by pursuing and receiving DOT approval for its tires, incorporating innovative tire technologies (asymmetric tread), and tackling the ultimate proving grounds (12 Hours of Sebring, 24 Hours of Daytona, 24 Hours of Le Mans). The expansion of its US facilities, including the doubling of its Fullerton, CA warehouse (1988) and purchase of the Mohawk Rubber Company (1989), allowed Yokohama to keep up with the rapidly growing demand.
Today Yokohama Tire remains focused on providing its customers with the absolute best in OE (original equipment) and replacement tires. The perfect example is the Yokohama Advan Sport ZPS high performance tire. This performance tire offering is designed for the full range of vehicles, including your sports car, touring car and sports coups . The Zero Pressure System (ZPS), that uses a bead filler to reinforce and strengthen the sidewall, combines with Run Flat technology to give you an unprecedented peace of mind. Arriving at your destination safely is of the utmost importance to Yokohama Tire and the Advan Sport ZPS delivers on that commitment.
